Illawarra Animal Hospital offers a Rehabilitation service that is usually only available in Sydney.
Like people, animals get injured and now live longer needing more pain management throughout their lives. Treatable ailments include orthopaedic conditions, neurological conditions, post surgery recovery, management of chronic pain like osteoarthritis and soft tissue injury.
PET REHABILITATION
The Rehab services are offered under to brand name Illawarra Animal Rehabilitation.

This is only offered at our Figtree location. You do not even have to be a general client of ours.

Hydrotherapy – DOG Treadmill and Exercises
Regular and controlled exercise represents one of the best methods to control pain and keep your dog’s joints supple. For dogs with severe movement issues, we recommend a treatment known as hydrotherapy. This involves placing your dog in an underwater treadmill while supported by trained therapists. The buoyancy of the water will help your pet to be supported and relieve the pressure on their joints while building their muscle strength gently and safely.
Our team members are trained in delivering massage therapies to improve your dog’s range of motion and reduce chronic pain.
Weight management
Carrying excess weight could make movement more difficult for your dog. If necessary, our Vets will provide you with weight management tips to help your pet lead a healthier, longer life and start exercise in the Underwater treadmill
Surgery
In severe cases, we may recommend surgery for your pet. Rest assured our team of surgeons are experienced, passionate and here to help no matter what the issue. Our surgeons are in-house and so are any pre and post-surgery assessments and x-rays . All surgery packages include our rehabilitation facilities.
Laser therapy and TENS machine
We use new -age laser and TENS technologies to reduce inflammation and promote healing in damaged or painful parts of the body.
Medications and supplements
Sometimes, we prescribe targeted medications to mitigate pain or treat the root causes of dogs’ medical conditions.
